Rooted & Grounded

“the rain did descend, and the streams came,
and winds blew, and they beat on the house,
and it fell not, for it had been founded on the
rock...” Matthew 8:25 Young’s Literal Translation

In this passage, Jesus is talking about building
our house on a foundation that is strong like a
rock. He likens this to obeying the Scripture.
He is telling us the storms of life will come
and rattle us, and we will remain standing
and intact because we have built our house
on that rock.  His commandments are simple:

“Love the Lord your God with your heart, soul,
mind & strength. Love your neighbor as
yourself....” Matthew 22:36-40

I remind individuals that I work with... Jesus
told  us to put Him first, practice self care,
and only then can we stand firm and let His
love flow through us to others. As Christians,
let’s begin with showing that love to one another.

Why the tree? It symbolizes stability with
a strong root system. We had a lot of
trees fall in TN this summer due to severe thunderstorms.
Some had shallow roots,
and others were not healthy.
The strong healthy trees remained standing.

He also said, “in this shall all know ye are my
disciples, if ye may have Love one to another.”
John 13:35

Today, let’s walk the path to love Him, and take
care of ourselves. As we look to Him, may our
eyes open to see & focus on what we have in
common as Christians.... and that is salvation
in one name, Jesus Christ.
