The Family Dinner Table

Connection.... let’s  talk about connection in family. All of us grew up in a family. What was it like? We have norms with everyday events like dinner. Do we have it together, on TV trays, withour smart phones present, on the road? We also have norms with holidays and how we celebrate. What happened to the family dinner table. I grew up with immigrant parents who both worked full time, andwe had home cooked from scratch meals and bread everyday. Even my dad who was a research professor of Bio Physics was there, engaged in conversation with us. We all had our designated chair. Not surehow my parents did it, and with an immaculate clean house, and yard work kept up with. I remember White Stores grocery shopping every Saturday together, cash only. We as children were allowed tochoose one fancy bar, and this was our junk food/sweet allowance for the week.

What are your memories? More importantly with your family currently do you find connection? Are there shared meals? Is there meaningful conversation?

With our 7 week workshop and groups, we will guide you in connection in all arenas in life including family.

I will continue to blog on this topic: Connection, and how we can strengthen our relationships.
